All spouses of our diocesan clergy are invited to join in the Clergy Spouse Retreat September 30-October 2 for fellowship, relaxation, bible study and sharing. This event will be held at St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center.

I look forward to this sisterhood gathering each fall,” says Beth Snyder, wife of the Rev. Dr. Greg Snyder. “Being together with this group of fellow clergy spouses to encourage one another, to listen, to love on each other and spend some time in worship and study is just what the doctor ordered for a weary spirit!”

Echols Ordination

October 2, 2016

The Rev. Dr. Charles Echols will be ordained to the priesthood on Sunday, October 2 at 4:00 p.m. at the Church of the Redeemer, Orangeburg.

Charles has Masters degrees from Trinity School for Ministry and St. Andrew's University (Scotland), and a PhD in Biblical Studies from Cambridge University (England).  He and his wife, The Rev. Janet Roberts Echols, served with Anglican Frontier Missions in Pune, India for five years before returning to the Diocese. In India Charles taught Old Testament at Union Biblical Seminary, the oldest evangelical seminary in India. He is the author of several books and is currently serving as the Curate at Church of the Redeemer, Orangeburg.

A Gathering of Women : The If Conference 2016

St. Paul’s, Summerville

if 2016St. Paul's, Summerville, is hosting an inspiring two-day gathering aimed at bringing women together to humbly seek God, be equipped and empowered to better live out God’s calling on their lives as they wrestle with essential questions of faith.

The event will feature recorded video teachings from the IF: Gathering 2016 held this past February in Austin, Tx, with gifted Bible teachers and authors such as Jennie Allen, Jo Saxton, Lauren Chandler, Shelly Giglio and Jen Hatmaker.   

Allison Lawrence, co-chair of our Diocesan Women and wife of Bishop Mark Lawrence, will also share about the challenging call we have as Christian women to stand firm on our faith in a world that has seemingly lost it’s way.

The Gathering will include live worship, prayer, teaching, small group discussion, fellowship and what promises to be a powerful  concluding Communion service on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday, October 22, 9 am to 5 pm

The cost is $20 which will cover materials, snacks and lunch by Parish House Catering on Saturday.

The Diocesan Clergy Conference will be held October 24-26 at St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center. The costs (for room and meals) are: Double room ($150), Commuter - meals only ($70), Single Room ($250)

David Hogg is the senior pastor of Christ Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. Prior to that, he was the Academic Dean at Beeson Divinity School of Samford University in Birmingham, AL. David earned his PhD from the University of St. Andrews and his M.Div. from Westminster Seminary, Philadelphia. He was born and raised in Toronto, ON. His wife is from Birmingham, UK and they have three boys. He has published on theological topics with Oxford University Press, IVP and NYU Press among others.

Listen & Speak 

The Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul is excited to host Listen & Speak: Conversations in Faith and Culture.

They’ve invited Pastor Scott Sauls  who worked for 10 years with Tim Keller at Redeemer NYC, to be the keynote speaker and address how Christians might love our changing world with the gospel.

They’ve also asked Andrew Peterson a storyteller, author, and songwriter who embodies this gracious posture toward culture, to spend some time singing songs and telling stories with us.

They’ll end each night at Kudu continuing the dialogue over coffee or beer.

The cost for this two day conference is $60 which includes a catered lunch until October 1st. After that the price moves to $80. Please consider joining them on October 27-28 for this important conversation.

Mondo is an exciting weekend for middle school students that presents the gospel and helps students grow together in their faith. Youth groups come to Mondo to engage in dynamic worship, hear from lively speakers, and enjoy energetic activities.

This year Ken and Julie Moser will be our speakers and will speak to the theme of “Follow” looking at the call of Jesus in the gospels. The Birdsongs will return to lead worship and provide other music.

re:generate is an amazing opportunity for high school students to grow in their faith!  On this weekend, youth groups come together to hear a dynamic message, engage in lively worship, and enjoy time building relationships with one another.

Nate Morgan Locke will be our speaker this year!  He was our speaker at Mondo 2 years ago and comes to us from Bath, England where he is youth minister at St. Bart’s and Youth Evangelist for Christianity Explored Ministries. Nate will raise the question “If life is a game, how do we win?” and look at Ecclesiastes for answers.

The Birdsongs will return this year to lead us in worship!

    •    Jim Lewis will discuss risk management and the importance of having parish facility and employment policies.

Dr. Christopher WrightDr. Chris Wright who serves as the International Ministries Director for the Langham Partnership represents and promotes the vision and work of Langham around the world through his international travel, his speaking and writing ministry as a Christian scholar and author, and in sharing the spiritual and strategic leadership of the organization. Dr. Wright taught in India for five years and has written extensively on the Old Testament and issues in Christian mission. An ordained Anglican, he is on the staff of London’s All Souls Church.
