Medical Insurance Information for Active Employees
The Diocese of South Carolina is a self-funded plan. Our plan is managed through BlueCross and BlueShield of South Carolina. All full time employees working 30 or more hours a week are eligible to participate in this plan. In January 2005 the Diocesan Medical Insurance plan changed to a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). One of the benefits with this choice is that the employees may now open a Health Savings Account.
The insurance is effective with the first day of employment. If an employee waives this coverage, they will be able to enroll during our open enrollment period November 15 through December 15 which would become effective on the first day of January the following year.
To enroll in this program the employer needs to contact Susan Burns in the Diocesan Office with the name of the employee and the date of their first day of employment. A packet will be mailed directly to the church for this employee to complete. Any changes that need to be made on any employees coverage needs to be done in writing and sent to Susan Burns.
