 Recently Bishop Lawrence met with Bishop Johnson Gakumba of the Diocese of Northern Uganda. Out of that meeting arose plans for Peter Rothermel, Diocesan Coordinator for Faith Formation, to use a portion of his sabbatical to offer a Men’s Conference in Uganda in June. To allow for wider participation of the clergy of his diocese, and to assist them in their continuing ministry, Bishop Johnson asked if the Diocese of South Carolina could help with the purchase of 100 bicycles that would be provided to his clergy. One bicycle costs $100 and can provide years of transportation and extended outreach potential to a Ugandan pastor. One parish already responded to this opportunity with the purchase of 50 bicycles.
