Dr. John MacArthur Makes a Two-Day Stop in Charleston, SC
Dr. John Fullerton MacArthur, a United States evangelical writer and minister, noted for his radio program entitled Grace to You will be teaching at St. John’s Chapel on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 8 & 9, 7:00 p.m., with a book signing at St Michael's Church, 71 Broad St, Charleston, SC 29401-2902 - Wednesday afternoon, February 9, 2011 at 1:30 pm – 4:00 p.m. Seating is limited to Bishops/Pastors/Priests/Deacons for the teaching event at St. John's. A suggested tax-deductible donation of $50.00 is requested for the Mission’s effort of St. John’s Chapel.
MacArthur is a popular author and conference speaker and has served as the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California since 1969, and is the president of The Master's College (and the related The Master's Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California.
Theologically, MacArthur is a dispensationalist and Calvinist, and a strong proponent of expository preaching. He has been acknowledged by Christianity Today as one of the most influential preachers of his time, and is a frequent guest on Larry King Live as representative of an evangelical Christian perspective. MacArthur has authored or edited more than 150 books, most notably the MacArthur Study Bible, which has sold more than 1 million copies and received a Gold Medallion Book Award. Other best-selling books include his MacArthur New Testament Commentary Series (more than 1 million copies), Twelve Ordinary Men, (more than 500,000 copies), and the children's book A Faith to Grow On, which garnered an ECPA Christian Book Award.. MacArthur will be in Charleston, South Carolina publicizing his latest book, Slave, with remarks in the rear cover by such notables as Dr. RC Sproul, Joni Eareckson Tada and (Charleston’s own) The Rev.
