What is the Walk for Water?
Join us for a fun, educational walk inspired by the experience of women and children who are responsible for fetching water for their families. After the walk, enjoy family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and refreshments in the park.
When and where is the Walk?
Saturday, March 19, 2011
Check-in at 9am, Walk at 10am
Cannon Park – 129 Rutledge Avenue, Downtown Charleston (Corner of Rutledge Avenue and Calhoun Street)
Why do we Walk for Water?
Every day, some one billion people go without safe, clean drinking water. More than 2.6 billion people lack access to sanitation. Because they lack these vital resources, communities often plummet into a cycle of poverty that prevents them from attaining a better standard of living. Join us as we walk to raise awareness of the global water crisis and help quench the physical and spiritual thirst of our brothers and sisters around the world!
How can I participate?
Participate in the Walk for Water as an individual, or by forming or joining a team to walk in the event. Teams generally include 10-20 walkers, and can be recruited from youth and adult Sunday school classes, small groups, youth groups, or other mission and outreach groups within your church. We encourage each walker to set a personal fundraising goal of $100 or more, which can be done easily and securely using our online tools.

Water Missions International presents the Walk for Water at Cannon Park on March 19th at 10:00 am. This 3.5-mile walk is inspired by women and children who fetch water for their families on a daily basis. We encourage walkers to form teams and raise support to bring these families clean water.
