Two years ago, Christ Episcopal Church in Florence celebrated their 150th anniversary. It was such a great success, they decided to have an annual homecoming. This year’s celebration will take place June 5, 2011, at 4 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Mark J. Lawrence will lead the congregation in the Holy Eucharist service. Church clergy, the Rev. Michael Burton, priest, and the Rev. Hiram Moseley, deacon, will assist. St. John’s choir will provide the music. A reception will follow on the beautiful historic church grounds. Since their 150th anniversary, they’ve had some new additions. The church has a new organ and Steve Guyton, a well known artist in Florence painted a 4’ by 8’ depiction of a portion of Michelangelo’s Creation on the ceiling of their new little chapel.
