Recognize our Veterans, Active Military and their Families on Sunday, November 9
In the 1960s and 70s, a popular TV public service announcement aired at 11 pm: "Do you know where your children are?" Today, we need to ask, "Do you know where our service members are?" They're around the world, conducting missions from humanitarian assistance, to keeping midnight watch, to some in perilous operations. They're in the air, on land, and at sea. Our diocese is blessed with many military families, and countless retirees and veterans and their families. On Nov 9, the Sunday before Veteran's Day, we ask that you remember and say a prayer of thanksgiving and for God's safety for all those who have served our nation, all those still serving, and especially for their families.
Eternal God, protect and assist all those, at home and abroad, by land, by sea, or by air, who are serving our nation. We especially thank you for all those who have served this nation, this good land Thou hast given us. We ask special blessings for their families who also bear, and have faithfully borne, additional untold sacrifices. Almighty God, watch over them, and cause them to know that none can pluck from Thy hand those who put their trust in Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
